Does this tool measure my blood pressure?

How does it categorise my reading?
It compares your systolic and diastolic numbers to the American Heart Association's 2025 blood pressure categories and shows the matching one. When the two numbers fall into different categories, it uses the higher category — which is standard practice.

What are the blood pressure categories?
The AHA 2025 categories are:
- Normal — systolic below 120 AND diastolic below 80
- Elevated — systolic 120–129 AND diastolic below 80
- Stage 1 Hypertension — systolic 130–139 OR diastolic 80–89
- Stage 2 Hypertension — systolic 140 or higher OR diastolic 90 or higher
- Hypertensive Crisis — systolic above 180 AND/OR diastolic above 120
What if my reading is very high?
If your reading falls in the crisis range (systolic above 180 and/or diastolic above 120), the tool shows a prominent emergency block above the category result. If you have no symptoms, contact your healthcare professional now. If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, back pain, numbness, weakness, vision changes, or trouble speaking, call emergency services (911 or your local equivalent) immediately.
Is this a diagnosis?
No. A single reading is not a diagnosis. Blood pressure varies throughout the day, and a real diagnosis of hypertension or any condition requires repeated measurements taken by a healthcare professional over time.
Why does it use the higher of the two numbers?
This is standard practice. If your systolic and diastolic readings fall into different AHA categories, the higher category is used. For example, if your systolic falls in the Elevated range but your diastolic falls in the Stage 1 range, the tool correctly shows Stage 1 Hypertension.
Does it save my readings?
No. Nothing is stored, logged, or sent to a server. Your reading exists only in the page while you're using it and is never recorded anywhere.
